Institutional capacity building

Through its institutional capacity building projects, UNESCO-IHE strengthens water sector organizations and develops postgraduate education, professional training and research facilities with partner institutions.

Counterpart organizations include universities, research centres, and in-house centres of ministries and other government institutions.

After a thorough analysis of the organization, including needs assessments for human and other resources, the Institute implements activities such as staff development, curriculum design, research and development (R&D) support, upgrading facilities, educational training, and enhancing managerial systems and skills.

UNESCO-IHE is committed to facilitating the growth of these educational institutes so that they can become complementary partners in a global network.

Assistance to regional partnerships

UNESCO-IHE provides assistance in setting up and maintaining national and regional knowledge networks. The aim is to stimulate cooperation in research, education and training, to increase scientific outputs, and to enhance their dissemination.

These networks not only inter-connect the participating institutions, but also create an efficient framework to connect to UNESCO-IHE’s and other global networks.
